Albums
Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums and four live albums. There are also compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The band has received multiple Grammy Awards.
Before the formation of Toto the group, members worked as sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. The collaboration led to the formation of Toto in the year 1976.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics for the absence of hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned the group, and they held auditions to choose a new frontman. The band selected guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band. The group went through old recordings and tapes to create the unique record. The album was well received by fans and the band went on a tour featuring former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, and Joseph Williams.
Shem von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.
